These types of books need to be kept in their historical context as the forbidden novelty that they were and were never intended to regarded as literature by any definition. The few books of this sub genre of fiction that I have read all suffer from the same flaw---they get tedious very quickly and the superficial characters are like phantoms playing out these same exasperated sex scenes over and over with little imagination or emotion. It is going to be for the individual reader to define what is erotic. If they are looking for the surface mechanics with no internal insights into motivation and drive they have tapped into a rich vein. I find them more dull than erotic. This is probably my second reading of this book after a long gap since the previous time and my understanding of what is "erotic" has altered drastically. After accepting the conceit of a flea narrating his/her autobigraphy it could have more whimsical elements. It is a rather unpleasant book as the female characters are nothing more than orifices to be ravaged by various male characters. The religious aspects could have proved to be satirical if the author was not so absorbed in finding absurd sexual configurations. As the story plodded along I began to think of my own story and how it ought to have involved a plague---since fleas are known carriers this particular fle may have become very protective of his subject and infected all who harmed her. The tedium makes the reading a struggle. Yes, it's not even a 140 pages long---depending upon one's copy--but the repetition of sequences diminishes the "drama" of the story. At the end we know just as much about the young Bella as we did in the beginning. It is obviously written by a man. The females are all compliant and willing to endure all manner of degrading experiences. These books were meant to appeal to the lowest level of male sexuality. They are sexual conqerors who are all endowed with the most enormous members and have superhuman stamina as they treat their female partner with all the gentleness of a battering ram slamming into a castle gate.I am currently reading My Secret Life which is also in this same vein of repetetive actions. I can only give this a marginal recommendation. It is an interesting curiousit from another era but it's lack of any literary asperations make it very dated.Product details

The Autobiography of a Flea Anonymous Helen Thompson Books Reviews
Great erotic read set in the early 1900's.
I owned this book a long time ago but loaned it to someone. The book's pages were yellowing but that should be expected from an older book. There were no marks or torn pages which is what matters anyway. The price was cheap enough and it came in the time stated. I would buy from this company again.
P.S. I thought this book wasn't very thick. There are only 157 pages and it was mentioned there should be 336 pages. What gives?
Very erotic
classic
I never ordered this if I did it was an error. Your website needs a lot of improvement.
This book is probably the best of this ganara.
It is only for consenting adults and folks with a good sense of humour.
I had read about this book long ago. One of the underground series of erotic literature in the 1800's, it clearly is the product of a fertile and imaginative mind. The sexual instincts of man have been around and kicking ever since we came into this world, and the more we push it under ground, the more it surfaces in bizarre ways.
However, having said that, there is a sense of amusement in the way that the book has been written, and I read it for the subtle tongue in cheek humour as much as for the erotic aspect of the book. It is a fun book, which allows sufficient room for the readers imagination to play. This, I suppose, is what erotic literature should do
