Riley is a seasoned veteran, but he’s still waiting for his big break that will take him to the NHL. Aly is a no-nonsense, play by the rules kind of girl. Together, the pair are explosive, and it was easy to lose myself in their passion. While set in the same world as the previous book in the series, The Grinder is completely standalone.
Overall, The Grinder is an enjoyable, quick read filled with sexy romance and all the good feels that come when you find your special someone. Aly and Riley worked well together, both in and out of the bedroom. With life experiences under their belts, they have some maturity when making decisions; however they are still insecure enough to have those same doubts many of us have experienced ourselves. They are open and honest when it most counts. I appreciated how both had set plans for their lives, yet when meeting that special someone, they took the time to question their preconceived plans, then adjusting them to fit the other, rather than either sticking with said plan or completely tossing it out the window.
The Grinder is a feel good, happy novella. Sexy and smart. Enjoyable and entertaining.

Excellent story and plot. As a Hershey Bears and Pittsburg Penguins fan, I understood the whole story line. Only wish it would have been longer.
So enjoyed this one. It had everything I love hot hockey player, a sweet girl and one happy ending.
The 2nd book of the series is just as good as the 1st. I enjoyed Riley & Aly, they had a special kind of heat & connection. Their insecurities in the fledgling relationship were sweet & the idea that Riley fell hard 1st was a great idea. I enjoyed the dynamics of the relationship between Riley’s teammates as well & also Stephanie Julian’s knowledge of hockey. Definitely recommend.

It's been a few months since I read this book, so I don't recall all of the details but I clearly remember being really happily surprised by it and that doesn't happen very often anymore. The characters were really well developed, and the story felt solidly constructed.
I am really enjoying the Redtails Hockey series. What a good book this was. Riley was a trash talker and player on and off the ice and then he met Aly. The relationship was fresh and interesting as they brought out another side in each other. Hot sex, beautiful romance and I can’t wait to read more. I was happy to see Bliss and Shane make an appearance in this book and I am hoping to see more if Riley and Aly. Great series, a must read!
Book Two of Stephanie Julian'a Redtails Hockey Series has us meeting the team's Grinder Riley Hatch. Riley Hatch is one of the oldest players on The Reading Redtails and nothing will stop him from achieving his goal of playing in the NHL one day. That is until one day he meets Aly Martin and he starts to question it all.
Aly Martin is everything the word responsible means. She has a great job, is a fantastic sister to Vivi and just does everything "safe" until she meets Riley and she starts to see that life can be more fun and spontaneous when you meet the right one.
Will two completely different people bend for the other. That is what you are hoping for the two of them so maybe they can find that HEA.
If you are a fan of hockey with some amazing romance thrown in then this is definitely the book and series you won't want to miss.
